What is Act-ivate?
The Act-ivate system is a deck of facilitation cards designed to help you build a training pathway that best suits your needs and/or the needs of your organisation.
The Four Stages of Act-ivate
The cards are divided into four categories. Each one a key stage in designing, delivering and evaluating training.
Setting the scene
Inspiration for the time and place your training will take place.
Preparing for change
Ways of preparing training that is tailored to your needs and/or the needs of your organisation.
Catalysing action
Supporting the doing phase of your training with creative techniques to help embed the Well-being of Future Generations Act.
Sustaining impact
Methods for keeping learning alive through long term action.
The Well-being of Future Generations Act is at its most transformative when it moves into the lived practice of everyday decisions.
The most powerful training is rooted in the real work of your organisation. As you explore Act-ivate, we encourage you to think about what your colleagues need to know and also what that means for their work in practice, including how they feel, think and act everyday.

To build this tool, we have worked with public bodies across Wales. This development is still ongoing, and the tool will evolve as we continue to receive feedback from our growing team of testers. This tool is aimed at practical activities working with people to support their learning through action. To ensure that the tool delivers sustainable development you are strongly advised to develop a sustainable facilitation toolkit. This toolkit is as much about your attitude as it is about the materials you use in your sessions. To explore this more follow the link to the toolkit.
The Act-ivate tool has been developed by the Future Generations Commissioner to support public bodies and other interested organisations in the implementation of the Well-being of Future Generations Act.
